Travelling, something you’ll enjoy again and again

Foreign cultures, the excitement of a new adventure, different tastes, sightseeing and finding lost civilizations are all some of the joys of globetrotting.

Traveling can be one of the most exciting times of your life or the most dreadful depending on how you are for your trip. It is really useful to do as much background reading as you can before departing for your destination. Some countries require visas for some visitors and very specific inoculations as a condition of arrival.

You really need to inform yourself and not only rely on a travel agent or friends because the country requirements can change from time to time. I once knew a person traveling to Vietnam and the travel agent neglected to advise on the first homeward flight. This was a huge disappointment and one that could have been easily avoided.

If you think that the global economic climate has made travel prohibitive available now that you can just about find a bargain airline ticket of destinations here and abroad. In fact the guide “Save On Airfare Secrets” will enlighten you to ways of getting bargains.

Traveling light is one aspect of traveling that I am still not a master of. I have however learnt to buy and travel with pashmina and cashmere to not so hot countries, as these yarns are so well insulating and at the same time very lightweight. Always ensure that you have layers then you will be ready for any change in temperature and remember to pack comfortable walking shoes. I don’t leave home without a compact torch and of course take your toiletries because you may not get the types you like in the country you are traveling to.

Check out the quality of the local water before trying it, as you may need to buy clean water and be careful with local dishes and at the same time enjoy the experience of tasting new flavors and dishes wherever you are. Best to get the word from a local or go to a place where there are plenty of customers.

Make sure your valuable items are secure and pay for as much as you can before leaving home. Take enough cash and sources of money to bring home some well thought out presents for your special friends and family.

Last and certainly not least do show respect for the customs of the region you are visiting including the behavior and dress code particularly if you are sight-seeing at any places of worship or religious sites.

OK, fasten your seat belt and Bon Voyage!
