To the Hotel! York

York is an unbeatable UK city break destination. That far North you’ll never guarantee the weather but the city is the perfect cultural or romantic getaway. Because the city has too much to see and do in just one day out, you’ll need a hotel, York has a great offering though.

There is no place quite like this small and historical city. It has an unmatched number of charming cobbled streets with everything from large chain stores to small, independent, local shops. There’s also an array of riverside bars, cafes and restaurants from which you can take in the view of unrivalled architecture in the form of York Minster.

The Jorvik Viking Centre and the dungeon are just two attractions which reflect the Roman, Vikins and medieval heritage of York. But there’s always the National Railway Museum for a more modern day out.

Further afield from your hotel, York offers easy access to the dales and the wider countryside. The gardens at nearby Harewood House are a must see for green fingered visitors.

Regardless of the season, there’s always something going on in the city. Many festivals, exhibitions and fairs visit the town. Regular markets selling local produce can be found mingling with the races, the railway show and the Viking festival.

As far as staying in a hotel, York has a lot to offer. Probably the most luxurious hotel York has is the Alwark Manor Hotel which is set in a beautiful Victorian house. The hotel has a spa and golf course too, for relaxing after a hard day taking in the sights.
